Users can ask questions in natural language within Slack and query the KnowledgeBot using the at-mention command. KnowledgeBot will then provide relevant answers based on the uploaded documents.

KnowledgeBot is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4o, which processes natural language inputs to generate intelligent, human-like responses.

Document Parsing and Retrieval

The system processes the uploaded documents and stores them in a vector database capable of both keyword and semantic search.

Conversation processing

Each conversation has its own ephemeral LLM assistant, which has access to this vector database. Responses are then generated using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), so the LLM combines its internal understanding with the external knowledge base to improve its responses.

Data Privacy and Use Policy

Data Access and Control

Chat interactions and document uploads are stored in Streamline AI’s account within OpenAI, which is necessary in order for the KnowledgeBot to accurately respond to user queries. Streamline AI controls this data and isable to delete or make changes to the data without OpenAI’s involvement. Customer data is stored in its own individual container within OpenAI so your data will not be commingled with any other customer data.

AI Training

OpenAI does not use the data provided by your organization to train or improve its language model.

Security Practices

Any communication with the KnowledgeBot within Slack is encrypted by Slack according to their security policies. You retain full ownership of any internal documents uploaded to Streamline AI, and they are not used for any purpose beyond responding to your team’s questions.

You can upload a wide range of documents, including legal FAQs, policies, contracts, and manuals. Supported formats include DOC, DOCX, PDF, DDTX, HTML, MD, TXT formats.

The KnowledgeBot pulls directly from your internal document repository, ensuring responses areaccurate and relevant to your business.

Data within Streamline AI is compliant with industry-standard encryption and restricted access controls to ensure that sensitive legal information is protected at all times. Any data within Slack is subject to Slack’s encryption standards.

No. OpenAI does not use the data provided by your organization to train or improve its models. Your data is kept secure, and no proprietary information is retained.

The KnowledgeBot can be set up in a few simple steps.

  1. The System admin enables the Knowledge integration in Organization Settings.
  2. The relevant documents are uploaded to the knowledge library by either an Admin or a Core Lead User.
  3. The KnowledgeBot is added to your Slack instance and invited to the relevant Slack channel.
  4. The KnowledgeBot can then be invoked by typing the @ symbol followed by knowledgebot (or another name you choose) followed by the message. E.g., “@knowledgebot How do I submit an MSA request?”
